Lin-Manuel Miranda captivated broadway with his groundbreaking play, Hamilton. His incredible acting, rhyming ability and storytelling have netted the show 16 Tony nominations and 11 wins, making him a highly desired individual.

Since announcing his temporary Hamilton retirement in July, Miranda has fielded lucrative opportunities, including starring in the Mary Poppins sequel, Mary Poppins Returns, as well as producing and co-composing Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid. Assuming that Miranda reprises his Hamilton role, he’ll need to ensure that his lyrical aptitude remains pristine.

Despite revealing Immortal Technique’s post as his high school bully, Miranda has been increasing his Hip Hop stock. Lin-Manuel's upcoming December 2nd release, The Hamilton Mixtape, will feature songs from the musical performed by various artists. He recently teamed up with fellow lyricists Nas, Dave East and Aloe Blacc on the track, “Wrote My Way Out.” The product is an inspiring tale of pursuit met with hardship, perseverance and, ultimately, success. While the four collaborators lead different lives, they’re cut from a similar cloth.

They’ve all experienced daunting isolation during adolescence from an absent support system, but there’s always been one comforting energy: writing. It’s been the one absolute in their lives—the one thing to not abandon them; the one thing that’ll listen to them. Escaping life’s hardships by cataloguing their pain, coupled with an undying passion, finally lead them to their way out.
