MTV might have stopped playing music videos, but that doesn’t mean they’re dead—far from it. Music videos are important because they offer a layer of depth to songs, contextualize the message and supplement the artist’s vision through adding an extra dimension. 

We’ve seen some awesome music videos so far in 2016, like Tyler, The Creator and A$AP Rocky’s “Freestyle 4” remix, “WHAT THE FUCK RIGHT NOW?” Without this visual aid, we would never be able to witness the crazy hype surrounding these two progressive rappers’ energized studio sessions. Without videos, we wouldn’t know who Rich Chigga is and that fanny packs are trendy, sort of. We need music and their visual counterparts.
